A NATO E-3A “Sentry” Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft and an Airbus A330 Multirole Tanker Transport (MRTT) are currently up and orbiting over Eastern Poland, while a Polish Saab 340 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Aircraft heads east towards the border with Belarus and Ukraine, and a Spanish Airbus A400M Atlas - potential operating as an aerial-refueling tanker - has taken off from Lithuania and is heading south in the direction of Poland

Due to the Russian Federation's attack on targets located in Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied air forces are operating in our airspace. In accordance with applicable procedures, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces has activated the necessary forces and resources at his disposal. Duty fighter pairs and an early warning aircraft have been scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to maximum alert. These operations are preventative in nature and aimed at securing and protecting airspace, particularly in areas adjacent to the threatened areas.
