During the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which took place on June 15-16, the participants agreed on a common position on three points: food security, nuclear and energy security, and the release of all captured and deported Ukrainian men and women, adults and children abducted by Russia. Key principles on these elements for a just and lasting peace are set out in the Joint Communiqué on the Foundations of Peace

Josep Borrell: At #UAPeaceSummit Leaders from 100 countries and international organisations sent a strong message supporting that a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine must be based on UN Charter and International Law. I support the Joint Communiqué reflecting this consensus. The summit also outlined a common vision on nuclear safety, maritime safety, food security, returning of war’s prisoners, deported UA children and arbitrarily detained civilians. We remain fully engaged with Ukraine and global partners to realise this vision.
